American salmonflies are the largest species of stonefly in North America with adults reaching up to 3 inches in length! Because of their sensitivity to pollutants, they are a great indicator species of healthy streams and waterways. They are also a welcome sight to anglers because the presence of salmonflies surely means there will be good fishing.
